5 Dangers of the Dark Web
Hacking groups are bigger than ever and you can find them nearly everywhere online. Groups such as TeaMp0isoN, or Ourmine often publicize themselves by hacking famous or controversial figures. YouTubers are usually easy targets. Roman Atwood, Niga Higa, Jacksepticeye, Keemstar, Logan Paul, Idubbbz, and many more YouTubers have been hacked in recent times.
"If you go looking for danger, you're bound to come across it eventually". This saying can be applied to a multitude of circumstances; school, work, the bar, the dark web, and even the surface web. You could be performing an innocent search, click the wrong link, and end up on something you'd wish you hadn't seen. Today I've compiled a list of the top five dangers on the dark web.
Tox (as seen above) is one of the most prominent virus creators on the dark web. Hackers don't even have to script or code the virus at all, Tox does all of the hard work for the user. The only thing the “hacker” actually has to do is set the ransom price. Once anyone opens the virus it will lock all their files until they pay the price displayed on their screen. You pocket 70% of the ransom, and Tox takes the other 30%. You can come across this virus on the surface web or the dark web. It's often transferred via email.

If you've ever so much as googled “the dark web”, you probably know what The Hidden Wiki is. For those of you who aren't familiar, the hidden wiki is an archive of miscellaneous “.onion” links. Many of these links come up saying "This hidden site has been seized". This can occur for a number of reasons; some of these sites are only open certain times of the day, others were taken down permanently by the government. Of the few links on The Hidden Wiki that actually work, there lies a very wide array of sites. Some involving hacking, free credit card scams, hitmen, forums, guides, and more. These sites are always risky, and most end up scamming you out of your money. One of the more recent scams was a hit on president Trump. People thew thousands of dollars at a hitman site in an attempt to assassinate him, but the hitmen never followed through. On the dark web, hackers aren't usually as nice about it... In many of the hacking cases listed above, the hacker gave the accounts back to the original owner and told them that their passwords weren't secure. If you are hacked on the dark web, the hacker most likely has very malicious intent. Most of these black-hat hackers want money or publicity out of you. Of course, hackers are somewhat hard to come across unless you display strong views in the wrong places, so don't let this one scare you too much.Links
The danger of unknown links ties in with viruses and scams. Often times the name of hyperlinked sites posses no real value... Not until you click them, that is. It should be a given that drug dealers usually aren't the most trustworthy people. This goes without saying for a number of reasons; they could be baked out of their mind and forget what they were supposed to follow through with, or they could have malicious intent.
