The Step by Step Guide to Accessing the Dark web on Mobile (With Pictures)

The Deep Web is often accredited as a terrifying, illegal place online. Drugs deals, murders, and hacking, right? This isn't exactly the case, and its worth mentioning that there is a difference between the Deep Web and the Dark Web. If you’d like to read my article about the difference between the two, click here. Today we will be accessing the Dark Web (The edgier of the two). This is where you’ll find drug markets, hitmen, hackers, and way too many forums/personal blogs.

If you go looking for trouble anywhere in the world, you're bound to find it. The Dark Web is no exception to that rule, and even though you're behind a screen and feel safe, remember that there are very sinister people that lurk on the Dark Web. It's also worth noting that not everybody on the Dark Web is a pro hacker that will appear under your bed if you say the wrong thing online, there are also people who access it just to check up on chat rooms or ask questions. With this being said, here is your step by step guide to accessing the Dark Web!

Accessing The Dark Web On Your Phone (Android):

Step 1.

Open the google play store and search for "Orbot". Orbot works as a VPN or Proxy. In short, Orbot hides your identity on the deep web. Install it but don’t open it yet, we have one more app to download before we leave google play.

Step 2.
The Second app we need is “Orfox”. This app is where we will actually search for deep web links. Think of it as the Dark Web google chrome.

Step 3.
Open Orbot. You’ll be greeted with a warm welcome and short introduction to Dark Web exploration

Step 4.

After you finish reading through Orbots intro, you’ll see a big grey button with an onion inside it. Press that button until it turns green and says “Bootstrapped 100% done” (Seen directly under the onion turn the VPN switch on. This will help improve the app and keep you safer on the Dark Web.

Step 5.

Unfortunately, you can't take screenshots or record anything on the Orfox app so there won't be any visuals for this step. I can still describe it and hopefully guide you to safety on the Dark Web. The first thing you need to do for this step is Open Orfox. It may take a few seconds to load but eventually, you'll see a screen consisting of a URL search bar, top sites, bookmarks, and history. Under top sites, you want to click the box that says “check TOR connectivity” and (hopefully) you will see a screen saying “Congratulations. This browser is configured to use Tor.” To double check this, Orfox also displays your mock IP. If this number matches your true IP then something went wrong and you are not safe on the Dark Web. To find your true IP, google “what’s my IP” on a different device without a VPN installed.

So now what?

Now you're finished and can search anything on the Dark Web while staying almost completely anonymous. If someone really really wanted to find you they still could, but they would have to jump through a lot of hoops and waste a lot of time doing this. But just in case, it's still a good idea to download extra VPNs to hide your identity. For a list of random Dark Web links, search "TOR Directories".
